Story

Treanor Architects began working with Delta Delta Delta at the University of Florida in 2003, facilitating discussions of whether to renovate the chapter's existing house or to build a new structure. Rigorous examination of financial and programmatic needs as well as chapter and university tradition revealed that it would be in the organization's best interest to build a new house at its current location.

The Neoclassical plantation-style home incorporates the organization's goals, including current and future market viability. The design strikes a balance between educational and non-educational space; between private, semi-private and public space; and between high-finish presentation and utilitarian areas.

The design makes use of cutting edge innovations in technology with respect to security and energy management. It is the first Greek facility in the nation to utilize a fingerprint reader access control system, alleviating the issue of lost keys and cards. A remote direct digital control system helps manage the temperature, humidity and unit performance via the internet from anywhere in the world.
