Project: Licking County Family YMCA

Pool House

This 4,400 sf open air pool house facility was constructed as part of a multiphase capital improvement project at the Newark campus of the Licking County Family YMCA.  The building houses locker rooms, changing rooms and toilet facilities to serve the existing outdoor aquatic facility. The enclosed areas of the pool house are divided by a central entrance gate/corridor  and flanked by open air shaded picnic areas.  The executive director envisioned an State Park type of building which could be shuttered and winterized during non-operating months. The facility was completed and occupied in May 2004 with a construction cost of $400,000.

Project: Licking County Family YMCA

The Mitchell Family Recreational Center (Field House)

This new build 18,530 Square foot field house was one phase of a multi-phase capital improvement plan for the Newark Campus of the Licking County Family YMCA.  This free-standing facility houses two primary basketball courts (that can be subdivided into four junior basketball courts), a 5,100 sf dedicated gymnastics space, locker facilities, kitchen, reception foyer and elevated viewing mezzanine.  The building construction is 30 foot tall load-bearing insulated precast concrete panels supporting a clear span open web steel structure of almost 100 feet.  The gymnastics and basketball areas are poured sports (epoxy) floor, with integrated court lines for the basketball area.  Translucent Kalwall panels were integrated on the south wall of the building to transfer diffused lighting during daylight hours. Heating and Cooling are served by packaged rooftop units.  This 1.25 million dollar facility was completed and occupied in April of 2005
