Enterprise Builders

Avery Heights, a non-profit provider of residential living and healthcare services for seniors, as part of an ambitious wellness and community outreach initiative, commissioned this indoor swimming pool facility. Their goal was to address the recreational and therapeutic needs of their community residents and area seniors, and to offer an after-school program to promote fitness and water safety among the local school children. The site, appended to the existing Community Building and hemmed by a complex of Residential and Health Center buildings, had been set aside two decades prior to realization of the pool building. The project was completed in July 2008 and has proven to greatly enhance the therapeutic and recreational programming at the center.

The Institute for the Hispanic Family has been in existence for more than 30 years and serves over 3,000 clients within the City of Hartford. This new two story building was designed to accommodate four program needs, Early Childhood and Senior Center on the first floor and Adult Services and Hispanic Child Guidance on the second floor. These programs were previously in various locations throughout the city. A major advantage of the new facility is the opportunity to expand the senior center. It will provide benefits to the children of the community as well. The fabric of the building emulates the scale, height and characteristic of the existing buildings in the neighborhood, including the fact that it consists of two stories which makes it compatible with the two to three story character of most of the other buildings in the area.
