The Williamson County Courthouse Completed

In 1911 Williamson County opened their new courthouse located in Georgetown, Texas.  The pride of Williamson County has stood proud for nearly 100 years but the years had taken its toll.  Browning’s directive on this restoration was to take the existing building and return it to its 1911 glory while inserting the conveniences of the twenty-first century.

Every part of this building was restored beginning with the basement to the statue at the top of the dome.  Some of the major items included:

 

*  Restoration of the Copper Clock Dome

*  Restored old brick parapet with 600 piece Architectural Terra Cotta Pediments & Balustrades

*  Restoration of over 50 Offices, 8 Conference Rooms, Numerous Restroom Facilities, Vaults,  Storage Spaces, Corridors, and Mechanical Rooms

*  Restored Balcony to the 26th District Courtroom with the removal of approximately 3,000sf from the third floor above.  Significant millwork built, existing benches re paired and refinished. Opera seating installed in balcony.

*   Restoration to the Commissioner’s Courtroom

*  Reconstruction of the original Elliptical Spiral Staircase

The Palladium IMAX Theater Completed

 Completed in December of 2006, this new 107,000 SF 19 screen movie theater at The Rim development boasts an Imax auditorium and an extremely high end interior and exterior finish package.  The Greek theme required use of Fiberglass cornice work for the pediments outside, framed by six 44 foot tall, 3 1/2’ foot diameter fluted columns that tower over the stained concrete entry walks.  The interior continues the theme with more than a dozen Greek columns decorating an open lobby.  In addition to the standard first floor concessions and game room, the lobby also contains a gelato / coffee bar and full service restaurant.  The full service bar on the second floor mezzanine overlooks the highly decorated lobby.  The array of high end interior finishes include 21 paint colors, 36 different styles and colors of ceramic and porcelain tile, wood flooring, granite counter tops, ornamental metal railings, and pressed tin ceilings.  During the final months of construction all trades adapted to numerous changes and held the pace with crews sacrificing long hours 7 days a week. The Palladium Theater currently ranks among the top 10 cinemas in the nation.
