In 1911 Williamson County opened their new courthouse located in Georgetown, Texas. The pride of Williamson County has stood proud for nearly 100 years but the years had taken its toll. Browning’s directive on this restoration was to take the existing building and return it to its 1911 glory while inserting the conveniences of the twenty-first century.
Every part of this building was restored beginning with the basement to the statue at the top of the dome. Some of the major items included:
* Restoration of the Copper Clock Dome
* Restored old brick parapet with 600 piece Architectural Terra Cotta Pediments & Balustrades
* Restoration of over 50 Offices, 8 Conference Rooms, Numerous Restroom Facilities, Vaults, Storage Spaces, Corridors, and Mechanical Rooms
* Restored Balcony to the 26th District Courtroom with the removal of approximately 3,000sf from the third floor above. Significant millwork built, existing benches re paired and refinished. Opera seating installed in balcony.
* Restoration to the Commissioner’s Courtroom
* Reconstruction of the original Elliptical Spiral Staircase
