Post House Apartments Finished
The Post House project is 63,000 sf of a six story block and plank building built on a street corner in downtown Stamford, CT. Logistically, the difficulty of building this mid rise building involved the closing of city streets so large cranes could set precast planks as well as installing the underground infrastructure for all the utilities. The exterior of the building is a mixture of traditional brick and a new product, AZAK, similar to a fiber cement siding material only it is a cellular PVC and available in many shapes and sizes. The foundation for the building is supported on auger cast concrete piles and concrete grade beams. Safety was a key concern to the Viking personnel and the project was completed with no lost days for any workers on site. It also provided job opportunities for many residents in public housing in Stamford as well as on-the-job training for them in the future. The Post House project was a great success for not only Viking Construction but for the 60 residences that are now living in their new homes.
