Story

This Skilled Trades Institute is a 95,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility providing an education and training centre for the trades. 

The project is intended to act as a showcase of construction details that can be used as a tool to educate the students.  As an example, several connection details will be left exposed to allow teachers to use them as design aides.

The new facility features a dynamic 45 foot cantilevered front canopy entrance utilizing post tensioning to provide a thin uniform section. The project also contains a large number of different cladding types and materials requiring careful coordination with other team members.  The team’s use of a fully integrated BIM model proved its worth in facilitating this coordination.

The project is slated to obtain LEED Silver Certification.
