This project is located on the Muskegon River near Newaygo, Michigan. Kent Companies was contracted to lift a settling riverfront cottage. The footings supporting the structure were “earth formed” and, as a result, significantly irregular. Kent Companies installed steel helical piers supporting up to 10 tons each to restore and stabilize the foundation. Because the footing was weak, steel plates were used to extend the zone of support to more of the footing, providing a stabile foundation for the cottage. Hydraulic jacks were used to lift the cottage to its original position and mudjacking was employed to lift the structure’s floor and fill the voids below. Kent Companies successfully completed this delicate and difficult project, resulting in an equally satisfied and impressed customer.
