Cascade Engineering :: Brownsville

Brownsville, Texas

Concrete-Contractor

Story

This project proved to be interesting as well as a challenging project for Kent Companies.  Kent Companies was contracted to remove approximately 48,000 square feet of an existing  7” concrete floor in an existing million square foot production facility. The new plastic injection presses that were being installed required an 18” thick concrete floor as well as a 560 LF of 8’ x 8’ concrete tunnel below the new floor for utility access to the machines. A 600 LF concrete knee wall was retro fitted to the existing north wall of the steel frame building. A complete waterproofing system was also provided by Kent Companies on the tunnel.

A new overhead crane system required new concrete column piers and temporary shoring of the existing columns was needed for the extension of the tunnel outside of the building into a new addition.  Kent Companies also provided exterior paving, steps, site grading and contouring for improved drainage of the surrounding building site.  Very close coordination with the owner and design professional was necessary for this fast tracked project.
