Thomas Jefferson Library - West Point Military Acadamy Completed

  • A new six-story state of the art Library and Learning Center, with a full basement, located in the heart of West Point's academic community.
  • It serves as a resource center for all Army Cadets and West Point Faculty members, and was designed to provide enhancement and diversification to the learning environment.
  • The facility consists of two learning center components, the Center for Enhanced Performance, and the Center for Teaching Excellence, strategically located within 140,000 square feet of usable space.
  • Numerous support service areas, stack areas, reading and quiet study areas, offices, media rooms, and classrooms are provided.
  • A concrete spiral staircase is located just inside the hall's main entrance, and winds its way from the basement to the sixth floor lobby.
  • The construction methodology applied to this project incorporates a number of logistical and operational constraints, and proactive planning and sequencing of deliveries, work activities, and coordination of trades is essential.
  • Its proximity to fully operational buildings, sports arenas and heavy Cadet traffic required strict safety measures and clear access to be maintained at all times.
