For the Chicago Public Schools, DeStefano and Parners was Design/Managing architect for a new, 800-student regional high school offering a highly competitive, technology-based college preparatory curriculum. In response to a compact urban site, the 162,500 sf school is organized as two separate buildings connected by an atruim enclosing and internal "street." The adacemic wing houses teaching functions, including 21 classrooms, 12 laboratories, a greenhouse, planetarium and weather station. The Public wing contains administration, library, dining, auditorium, and gymnasium. Raised computer flooring throught accommodates wiring for complete networking services, including computer access for every student.
