DeStefano and Partners provided architectural design and managing architect services for the Public Building Commission of Chicago to implement a 162,000 sf Pre-K through 8th grade elementary school that also will serve as a showcase center for professional teacher training,. The program called for such unique features as observation facilities, conference/training centers for on-line access and distance learning, resource rooms and wiring of all classrooms for video observation. The project includes a new community center, housing a gymnasium, natatorium and day-care facilities, to be linked to the four-story school by a pedestrian bridge.
