Commongrounds / the Alluvion Marquee

Traverse City, MI, MI

Story

The Alluvion marquee at Commongrounds is a custom-fabricated exterior sign installed at the entrance to a nonprofit-run performing arts and wellness venue in downtown Traverse City. Designed and built to reflect the creative spirit of the space, the marquee combines a thoughtfully-designed hand-built aluminum structure and channel letters, precision-machined features, cutting-edge electronic message centers, LED neon, and classic marquee lettering and bulbs to create a visually striking and durable landmark. Positioned near the corner of Eighth and Boardman, it balances artistic design with strict zoning and historical guidelines. Our team managed the full process—from design, permitting, support and engineering to fabrication and installation—coordinating with other trades during an active construction schedule to complete the project safely, and to exacting quality standards. The marquee now serves as a recognizable anchor for a community-driven space and helps connect locals and visitors alike to the arts, education, and wellness programming inside.
