Traverse City, MI
In 2025, Cunningham-Limp partnered with Single MOMM to transform a vacant building in Traverse City into a trauma-informed, purpose-driven community hub for single mothers across Northern Michigan. The fully renovated space now serves as both the Grand Traverse service center and the statewide headquarters for Single MOMM, a nonprofit that provides mentorship, life coaching, financial assistance, and community-building programs to thousands of single mothers.
From the earliest planning stages, the project was rooted in dignity, healing, and empowerment. Every design decision — from soft, comfortable furnishings and calming lime-wash fireplaces to custom millwork and thoughtful spatial flow — was made to foster a deep sense of safety, belonging, and restoration. The building features private coaching rooms, flexible classrooms, quiet reflection areas, and welcoming communal spaces that allow women to build relationships and access support without stigma or fear.
The project was completed in under one year, following the successful completion of a $1.4 million capital campaign that reached its fundraising goal in just eight months. Today, the space supports more than 5,000 hours of programming annually and serves over 1,000 families — offering not only services but also a sense of community, connection, and renewed hope.
More than a building, it has become a lifeline. Through everyday interactions and trauma-informed programming, Single MOMM mentors walk alongside women through both triumphs and challenges, helping them move from surviving to thriving. This space has redefined what support can look like and continues to strengthen the social and emotional fabric of the region.
