Elevated Ground Mounted Solar Array
Traverse City, Michigan
The solar panels and goat farm at Mitchell Creek Meadows Nature Preserve are key components of GTRLC’s larger initiative to achieve 100% green energy and reduce the campus’s carbon footprint to net-zero. The campus also incorporates renewable energy systems, including ground-source geothermal heating and cooling, and sustainable water management, among other innovations.
These strategies not only demonstrate how the Conservation Center can remain climate-neutral while preserving the surrounding natural habitat, but they also generate long-term savings in utility costs, allowing more resources to be dedicated to land protection and stewardship.
