This 6+ acre mixed-use community including 1,100 residences, 40,000 sqft of retail and restaurants, two hotels, 250,000 sqft of office space, and a 15,000 sqft park. The project was designed to feel like a neighborhood built over time composed with 550,000 brick, 3,500 units of cast stone, 165,000 units of CMU, 4,000 pieces of Arriscraft veneer units, and 350LF of concealed lintel system. The hand-crafted arches that adorn the roads and walkways are the most interesting being of varying dimensions. Each arch had its own unique plywood template that was utilized with the Halfen Concealed Lintels System. Telligent hand-crafted the templates to the specific dimensions of the arches on site. This process involved creating the plywood template, installing pins into the steel beam along the arch. The brick would then be set into the beams with the plywood pressed onto it and remain in place to set for one week. This proved to be a challenging task as the arches were all different dimensions, making the frames varying dimensions. The arches were also different in design, some a bit simpler, others more complex due to their large scale. On some of the large-scale arches, two different brick sizes were used in an alternating pattern. A detail that requires careful and diligent attention to give a smooth rounded finish that is uniform in design. Others would be set inwards for the surrounding elevation, while other would protrude out from the surrounding elevation. Often multiple designs would be used within the same elevation. Regardless of the arch design, it was imperative that the masons crafted a uniform design across the singular and surrounding elevations. ...continued in attachment because the system said it couldn't be more than 500 words but Microsoft Word says the narrative is 499 words (LOL).
