Story

The facade consists of a vertical curtainwall system and a custom sloped system. The sloped system spans almost 500ft across the passenger holdroom which includes 5 boarding gates and has integrated vertical expansion joints to accommodate for building movement. The skylight system used for this application was modified so that it weeps water similar to a curtainwall and is integrated to the gutters above to deal with secondary drainage from it. All façade glass is electrochromic with tinting capabilities. All façade systems were modified to have wire pathways within the framing, there are no exposed or surface mounted wires. The roof glazing comprises of a 14,000sqft of barrel vault skylight and 500ft of single sloped skylight systems. There are 3 identical barrel vaults, each vault consists of a blended end where each row of glass gradually tapers down from an arc to a flat line while maintaining a positive slope on the perpendicular axis. Due to the complex geometry each glass unit on the blended end is different with a unique shape. The entire barrel vault skylight was glazed in 2 weeks using 2 cranes through challenging weather conditions. We are also providing an inter-connected gutter system between the vault skylights and at the head of the entire holdroom façade. All gutters are integrated into the skylight and sloped framing drainage systems as well as a fall protection system designed for the maintenance of the skylights.
