The WOMC 8th Floor Patient Unit Fitout project is a 20,000SF shell to finishes fitout project that allowed the White Oak Medical Center campus to recognize an additional 30 med/surg private patient rooms, 4 of which are considered isolation rooms with dedicated exhaust and air pressure monitoring, as well as 2 overflow areas allowing for an additional 32 patients at any given time. The patient rooms received solid surface headwall assemblies for all medical gas, nurse call, power and data necessary within reach of the patient beds. Patient rooms received digital signage upgrades so patient information can be updated electronically. There were equipped with a full height wardrobe cabinet, footwall solid surface countertop and hygiene sinks. Each additional med/surg patient room has its own private bathroom with finishes consisting of floor to ceiling tile showers and solid surface sinks with backlit mirrors. The center core contains 4 nurse stations and 14 charting alcoves, with custom casework and solid surface tops, 2 meds rooms, and several staff workspaces, team rooms, and staff lounge areas. We extended the pneumatic tube system in the hospital to reach the 8th floor and provided two new pneumatic tube stations. All MEP systems were extended to service the 8th floor and tied into the existing Building Automation System.
