CWC delivered the new Home2 Suites by Hilton extended-stay hotel for Hoffman & Associates, one of seven new, concurrent base-building projects within the larger West Falls development in Falls Church, Virginia, a 1.2 M SF mixed-use community on nearly 10 acres adjacent to the West Falls Church metro station. The project involved the vertical construction of a 146-room, 5/2 wood frame over concrete podium tower arranged in a horseshoe configuration around a low-roof bio-retention and green roof. The ground floor features two spec retail suites, with future provisions for food service retailers. Guests entering through the main entrance on the first floor enjoy a brief ride to the second floor via two new Kone high-speed elevators. When the doors open, they are greeted by an expansive lobby featuring some of the Home2 brand signature elements: comfortable lounge seating, a self-service breakfast and dining counter, a business center, and a small corner for sundries. Guests can stop at the mezzanine level below and enjoy the fully equipped fitness center overlooking the public terrace along West Falls Station Boulevard. Each of the 146 rooms is well-provisioned for a comfortable stay – however brief or long – with in-unit kitchen sinks, disposals, dishwashers, and adaptable workstations across a full-length millwork “Working Wall” – another Home2 brand signature. Extending the Home2 brand experience, interaction with the property is effortless and hands-free, allowing guests to seamlessly access the hotel using smartphone-based Hilton applications in lieu of a traditional keycard. The façade features fiber cement, aluminum composite panels, specialty black brick, and a full-height window wall system, which provides impressive views from the corner one-bedroom suites. CWC worked through several challenges, the most significant being a single site entrance along VA Route 7 that was shared among three other concurrent vertical building projects, each managed separately by different General Contractors. This required meticulous coordinating, specifically for concrete and wood-framing structure progress, with ongoing site work directly adjacent to the property on all sides. CWC liaised with ownership, design team stakeholders, Hilton brand construction leadership, and officials with the City of Falls Church to design and deliver a tailored access control and security system that satisfies city requirements and conformed to brand technology and access standards. The project achieved its LEED Silver certification in early 2025 and was a successful partnership between the General Contractor, Trade Subcontractors, Owner, and Design Team, delivering affordable and elegant lodging in a transformative new development in Falls Church.
