The Caplin & Drysdale project entailed the construction of a 35,000 square-foot high-end office in Washington, DC. The space showcases a blend of sophisticated finishes and custom craftsmanship, reflecting the firm’s prestigious reputation and the need for a professional yet luxurious environment. The buildout features exceptional high-end finishes throughout, including Venetian plaster walls, specialty stone tiles, and custom wall coverings. Fabric-wrapped panels and wood flooring enhance the aesthetic appeal, providing a refined atmosphere in all areas of the office. A focal point of the design is the main reception area, where a dramatic sloped drywall seamlessly transitions into a Venetian plaster ceiling. This radius ceiling integrates a custom light fixture of over 400 feet in length, creating an impressive visual centerpiece while transitioning into the Armstrong Woodworks ceiling in the conference room. The conference room itself showcases over 3,000 square feet of custom Armstrong woodwork ceilings, paired with meticulously matched millwork wall panels for a cohesive, upscale design. Additional highlights include the reframing and finishing of skylights on the penthouse floor, featuring ceiling pop-ups reaching over 16 feet in height. The space also includes an extensive millwork package, which includes custom stone cabinet fronts for multiple pantries that deliver a seamless design across the entire elevation. The boardroom is another standout, with a custom rug that took over 30 weeks to produce, paired with extensive integration of audiovisual equipment. The entire office space features intricate lighting details, including curved pendant fixtures, recessed cove lighting above millwork, and continuous fixtures above perimeter offices, further elevating the refined design. Overall, the project blends architectural sophistication with functional design, creating an exceptional space for Caplin and Drysdale that mirrors the firm's high standards and commitment to excellence.
