The U.S. Travel Association (USTA), a non-profit organization dedicated to advocating for the growth and success of the travel industry in the United States, embarked on a significant headquarters buildout project aimed at creating an open, bright, and elegant space to serve as a landmark for the organization. At the outset, rand* Construction conducted a site visit and performed a floor levelness heat map to assess the site conditions. Our estimating team played a crucial role in supporting the client, providing valuable assistance with value engineering (VE) exercises to ensure that the project remained on track both financially and logistically. The buildout presented several challenges, including working around the base building core restroom construction and mechanical unit swap-outs. These issues necessitated the demolition of newly built walls to accommodate the changes, requiring careful coordination between rand* and the base building construction team. Despite these hurdles, the resulting space reflects the USTA’s mission with a design that is open and sophisticated. The headquarters now serves as a functional and stunning landmark that symbolizes USTA’s role in supporting the travel industry. Given the client’s tight schedule, rand* ensured that all milestones were met on time. Carl, the project superintendent, played a pivotal role in this success by providing dedicated on-site leadership. He extended his stay for an additional two weeks after the punch list phase to offer ongoing support to the EVP of USTA and her team, ensuring that the final touches were completed to their satisfaction. The EVP expressed her appreciation for the team’s professionalism and responsiveness, further solidifying the positive working relationship between rand* Construction and the U.S. Travel Association.
