The Fairfax Mazda project is a new 103,000 SF dealership, including a showroom, offices, service and parts departments, and a 4-story parking garage. This project also included the demolition of the existing 31,000 SF auto dealership and associated site work. Throughout the project, various challenges were navigated, such as coordinating sitework with adjacent property owners and municipal authorities for roadway access, as well as managing an existing steam diversion and fill operation. These endeavors demanded strategic planning and collaborative efforts to ensure seamless progress amid external complexities. A notable achievement of the project was the importation of 13,626 cubic yards of dirt, resulting in a 7-foot elevation increase in specific areas. This elevation adjustment was instrumental in optimizing the dealership's layout and functionality, displaying efficient land utilization and thoughtful design considerations. Structural integrity was prioritized through the installation of 521 tons of structural steel, while utility work included the implementation of new water lines, sanitary sewers, and stormwater management system. Innovative solutions, such as a waterproofing system between slabs and ramp heating, were integrated into the project, highlighting a forward-thinking approach to infrastructure construction focused on longevity and operational efficiency. The exterior façade incorporated ACM panels, brick accents, and a modern graphics package with digital signage to enhance visual appeal and provide a technologically immersive experience for customers. Despite challenges such as ownership changes and delays related to adjacent property considerations, the project demonstrated resilience and adaptability throughout its execution. The facility boasts impressive specifications, including a 30,000 square foot showroom and offices, a two-story parts department with a parts lift, and a 4-level garage with ample parking spaces. These features position it as the largest Mazda dealership on the East Coast, marking a significant milestone in industry presence and service capacity. In conclusion, the Fairfax Mazda project's emphasis on innovative design, technological integration, and effective problem-solving makes it a deserving candidate for recognition through the Award of Excellence. Its positive impact on the automotive industry landscape and local community further validates its merit for acknowledgment and celebration.
