Confidential Capital Venture Firm

McLean, Virginia

Story

This award-winning headquarters relocation project for a Confidential Venture Capital Firm encompasses a three-floor interior tenant build-out. Key features include an interconnecting stair spanning three floors, new catering pantries, elevator lobbies, a library, lab space, reception area, conference spaces, huddle rooms, and a training room equipped with two Skyfold partitions. Two 25’ telescoping glass partitions converge to create two of the four-walled “Genius Bar” areas where employees engage with the in-house IT team to explore new technology and review hardware and software components. The three-story interconnecting staircase is made up of more than 40 individually measured steel support members and ascends through curved radius slab cuts that were cut in place. The HITT team’s extensive coordination ensured flawless alignment of these radius cuts across all floors. Enhancing safety and aesthetics, Tambour wood paneling elegantly graces the slab edges, serving as guard rails, while integrated accent lighting illuminates the perimeter of the openings. The installation process involved an exterior window being pulled on the 10th floor of the building, so the stair member parts could be flown in four sections. Each section was then raised through the slab cuts and secured in its final position. Tying each stair stringer to the slab and aligning it with the poured Tru PC concrete flooring provided a clean and precise final appearance. At the heart of this project is a captivating 2,500-square-foot library. Adorned with elegant wood flooring, the library showcases seven freestanding millwork bookshelves, each thoughtfully outfitted with integrated hidden accent lighting and discreet bocci outlets. The seamless integration of reclaimed barn wood enveloping the structural steel members blends effortlessly with the rich textures of the millwork book shelving and flooring. A hidden door within the millwork wall panels allows employees to access secluded rooms for added privacy. The team demonstrated their adeptness in managing a complex project and navigating intricate details and challenges. Through meticulous planning and effective communication, they ensured every aspect of the project was completed, resulting in a successful project delivered on time and within budget. The client successfully relocated employees and hosted a grand opening for all staff according to the intended schedule.
