Renovations
Washington, DC
The renovations of the Hotel Washington Lobby, Bar and Restaurant included architectural woodwork demolition and the installation of new finishes to modernize the space. The millwork had integral tile details that matched the new tile installed in the restaurant columns and bar. Finishes also included new millwork for the host’s stand and service stations, new fresh paint throughout, and fabric wrapped panels at the bar area. Thanks to the efficient communication between everyone involved in the project, this renovation did not encounter any significant delays. However, the team did run into some obstacles due to the renovation moving forward in an occupied lobby space, which meant the group had to coordinate temporary protection for the existing parts of the lobby. These issues were resolved by closely coordinating with the field and hotel staff to efficiently mitigate dust and debris in the visitor lobby area. Another obstacle the team ran into was that one column needed to be finished after the scheduled opening date. The project team worked in close coordination with the restaurant’s schedule to get this final piece of the project done without affecting the customers’ dining experience. Overall, the project goals were met and exceeded. The project was completed on time and on budget thanks to the responsiveness from the Owner, Designer, Engineers, and Subcontractors. The team provided a beautifully finished and functional space for hotel customers and visitors alike.
