Site Work Excavation
Washington, DC
This project was awarded by United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Headquarters Whitten Building with the objective of replacing 2 existing 8” sewer lines, one on the East Wing and the other on the West Wing. Stocks General Contractors is the sole contractor to complete the project. One sewer line collapsed, and the other line was functional with some deficiencies. The project was located at Jamie L. Whitten Building Jefferson Drive Washington DC. Project scope included open trench excavation, site preparation for sewer line installation including temporary shoring, bracing, and safely hauling excavated materials away from site at safe disposal. Installation of 8” diameter approximately 250 linear feet of sanitary lines including all appurtenances, exposed aggregate concrete sidewalk replacement and landscaping. The project presented unique challenges, including underground utility conflicts, tight deadlines, and deeper installation up to 26 feet at building and 19 feet deep at manhole. Restoration of grounds disturbed by construction was another scope of work which required restoration of concrete sidewalks, placing appropriate base, seeding and overlay. Stocks GC was able to exceed our client’s expectations by completing this project ahead of schedule, on budget and with zero lost time incidents.
