Story

Our candidacy for the Excellence in Construction Award stems from HITT’s unwavering dedication to excellence across every facet of our work from inception to completion. At the forefront of our ethos are several core values that HITT prioritizes across the company. Two that stand out specifically for this project are “Every Little Detail” and “Elevate the Business of Building.” Tasked with constructing a three story, state-of-the-art data center, generator yard, and associated roadway with a footprint of roughly 200,000 sf, while only working with about 280,000 sf, it meant every little detail mattered. Because of the tilt up design, there was immediate coordination needed with our site clearing, concrete, and steel trade partners. We meticulously planned out every stage of the casting and steel erection process to ensure everyone’s safety during these high-risk activities, providing trade partners and cranes with unimpeded egress throughout the site, and enough lay down area for needed materials. We not only needed to grade the site quickly for casting/pouring foundation to stay on time and on schedule and coordinate slab on grade/deck pours, but we also had to coordinate two simultaneous cranes to maximize their wall pick efficiency while working with the minimum allowable crane road width. With such little room to spare and our number of workers on site growing each day, our daily coordination meetings were vital to ensuring everyone on the HITT team was up to date on daily site activities and logistics. Client satisfaction is paramount to our success. We approach each project with a client-centric mindset, understanding that every undertaking comes with its unique set of challenges and requirements. By fostering open communication, providing transparent project management, and delivering tailored solutions that align with our clients' visions and objectives, we consistently exceed expectations and elevate the business of building. We maintain a constant stream of communication between the project management team and the client which allows daily coordination for client requested changes, schedule updates, and site progress reports. One major challenge we have faced is continuous, schedule impacting, change requests from the client throughout the project, while being asked to maintain original turnover dates. Because of our team’s experience, storied relationship with the client, and deep-rooted relationship with our trade partners, we can immediately address these change requests with the client representatives, discussing feasibility, schedule impacts, and any possible alternatives. While this project is still ongoing, we are still on track to hit our substantial completion date by May 30, 2024. Safety is non-negotiable in our line of work. We recognize the inherent danger associated with construction so we perform ongoing risk management with our safety team to identify all high-risk activities that will be performed to prioritize the safety and well-being of our workers, trade partners, and all stakeholders involved. Our robust safety protocols, comprehensive site orientation program, and proactive risk management strategies ensure that we minimize accidents and have a smooth project execution.
