The Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP project was a full build-to-suit tenant interior space for the relocation of the prestigious law firm. The project spans the entire 6th floor of 1919 Pennsylvania Avenue as well as the Penthouse and Roof Terrace. The attention to detail of the highly custom design is readily apparent throughout the tenant space, most notably the expansive lighting package, custom millwork installations, and the terrazzo flooring finish that had to be carefully coordinated throughout all phases of construction due to the extensive integration with other trades. The project had a limited preconstruction period to develop a phased approach, onboard subcontractors and vendors, and develop a comprehensive pre-release package to procure all long-lead materials. The scope included upgraded elevator lobbies, a highly custom reception, private offices enveloped in demountables, adaptable conference rooms via use of operable partitions, breakout spaces, a vibrant pantry with custom pendant lighting, and a jewelbox penthouse to house a variety of uses including internal assembly functions, client engagement events, and social receptions serviced by the full-suite pantry and connecting terrace. The penthouse features an undulating light fixture that consists of over 160 pieces that was custom fabricated and pieced together in the field like a puzzle. The fixture begins at the entry ramp and snakes into the main penthouse utilizing all of its 200 linear-feet to provide a refined finish to the striking work environment.
