The renovation project at 7001 Columbia Gateway Drive in Columbia, MD, transformed a 14,793 SF area into a modern, multi-functional space. The project involved a comprehensive renovation of the building lobby, future tenant spaces, and an amenity center, with a focus on sophisticated and high-end finishes. One of the unique features of this renovation was the intricate and expansive light fixture package that served as the central design element, enhancing the aesthetics of the space. This included an eye-catching lobby chandelier, elegant hallway pendant lighting, and a unique pantry microlite fixture. The revamped amenity space now boasts a well-equipped gym and an entertainment center complete with lounging areas, TV, pool table, and shuffleboard, alongside several conference rooms. The project has expanded its amenity offerings to include an outdoor area, providing tenants with a collaborative space beyond the office. This area features a gas-lit fireplace, a newly designed patio for relaxation, and a multi-use lounge area. The outdoor patio and several dedicated quiet rooms highlight the project’s focus on creating a versatile, comfortable, and engaging environment for its occupants. This renovation transformed an office building lobby into a breathtaking, welcoming space and amenity center for tenants and office visitors. The bold use of color and high-end finishes elevate the space throughout while providing multiple gathering and activity areas for the tenants of the building. Since the renovation took place in an occupied office building, it required a high level of coordination, organization, teamwork, and collaboration among all project stakeholders. The CK Commercial team worked closely with the building owner to ensure the safety of the existing tenants and visitors while also minimizing disruptions throughout the renovation process. In addition to the challenge of renovating this space in an active office building, the project team faced additional challenges to the already tight schedule for this project. This meant that although the changes to the original scope of work had to be accommodated, the project still needed to be completed within the original time frame. Despite the challenges, the team worked together with the subcontractors and owner to turn over the space on time and to the highest level of quality.
