Construction of a new 35,000 square foot public library for Spring Lake. The focal point of the building is a large elliptic area in the center with 44 large windows, providing natural light. Within the elliptic area, there is a double-sided fireplace that serves as an inviting area for people to sit and read. It also contains a glass and masonry exterior with a sophisticated snow melt system under the walkway and near the backdrop areas. The new library allowed for the addition of several features to benefit the local community as well as its patrons. The children’s area now has its own reference desk and check-out area, eight computers and a program room. The main circulation desk is near the adult area, which has an additional 16 computers. There is also a conference room, individual study rooms, a local history room and a meeting room for up to 125 persons, which remains accessible to the public outside of the library’s operational hours.
