Rochester Gear, a manufacturer of small and medium size gears, hired Wolgast to design and build their 52,528 square foot addition. Their existing facility was too small and they had to make room for new business they had contracted from one of their customers.
There was a 12 foot elevation difference from the existing building to the new addition, making things a little complicated. Wolgast was able to connect the two buildings by designing the building with a ramp for hi-lo traffic between the buildings.
The addition contained a new employee break room, shop management offices, quality control offices and two new loading docks. The main building is a pre-engineered metal building on a block foundation with a combination standing seam and membrane roof system. The truck dock expansion is masonry construction with a membrane roof and sprayed foam insulation. The light fixtures are all T5 and T8 high efficient fixtures and the HVAC unit for the main manufacturing space is a highly efficient air rotation unit.
