Kent County Fuller Campus

Grand Rapids, Michigan

Construction-Management

Story

As part of a Capital Improvement Project Kent County Fuller Campus underwent a major transformation. Triangle provided a full-range of construction management services, utilizing sustainable building practices where possible. The Fuller Campus consisted of three unique projects and Triangle coordinated with multiple architectural/engineering firms on each specific project.

The projects at the Kent County Fuller Campus included: Animal Shelter Building, Boiler Plant Energy Centers, and Entrance & Circulation Roads.

The new Animal Shelter replaced the existing, outdated animal shelter building. In addition to the County’s animal control role, the new facility optimizes the County’s veterinary capabilities and pet adoption program.

The Boiler Plant/Energy Center project renovated the main heating and cooling system for Spectrum-Health (Kent Community) Hospital as well as independent satellite boiler rooms for the Community Re-entry Center and Health Department Buildings. Additional space totaling 800 square feet was added to each these facilities.

Connecting all of the County’s amenities was the new Entrance & Circulation Road System which was designed for the future growth needs of the County. The new campus roads facilitate smooth traffic circulation, ease of building way-finding, parking area access within the campus as well as upgrades to the Fuller Avenue main entrance. The County’s plan included preserving green areas throughout the campus and planting berms along the campus edge, shared with the surrounding neighborhood.
