Story

Opened in April 2009, Heron Manor is a modern, barrier-free facility, whose spacious and airy design provides quality living spaces for independent seniors. The building features 55 well-appointed apartments designed to accommodate a variety of residents. A large dining hall, senior activity center and open common areas encourage socializing and provide space for planned activities. A multi-purpose theatre room provides a comfortable venue for movies and performances.

Sustainable features of the building include a geo-thermal heating and cooling system, insulated concrete form walls and the use of low VOC (volatile organic compounds) paints and adhesives. These features improve the building’s energy efficiency and reduce the impact on the environment.

The facility has earned an award from the Michigan Green Build Initiative and is qualified for LEED certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. A LEED Platinum certification has been achieved.
