THE KING CO., INC. was selected by MPI Research and MAVCON to provide design-build services for the installation of temporary earth retention for the K2 and M2 expansion projects.  Both projects involved the design and selection of appropriate earth retention to support the adjacent buildings and numerous underground utilities.  On the first project, vibration free soldier pile wood lagging was installed up to depths of 22-feet.  The earth retention system was tied-back with earth anchors.  On the second project, a tangential auger cast-in-place wall was installed in low headroom conditions to support interior foundation columns.  The wall was designed for an excavation depth to 14-feet.
