University of North Florida Student Union

Jacksonville, Florida

Architectural

Story

Situated on a wildlife preserve, the university offers limited space to build. In order to meet the needs of the school, the building footprint was minimized by stacking the program elements. The design allows for future growth, additional outdoor green space, and an amphitheater. The student union plan includes an entry with information desk, assembly space with meeting rooms and pre-function areas; lounges addressing a variety of student needs from study and computer space to watching television; food services including the Boathouse restaurant, a coffee shop and a food court; administrative offices and retail space; an entertainment area with live stage space, game room, and movie theater; student services suites for student assistance, organizations, and clubs; and space for building services.
