Omega Architects has been providing architectural services to David’s House Ministries, a residence home for mentally and physically challenged adults, for fifteen years. This is the latest, and largest, building on the three-building campus. The building was designed to meet the needs of the residents who are completely non-ambulatory. A special feature of the resident rooms is an overhead lift system to transport residents directly from their beds to their private toilet or bathtub. The twelve-resident building also incorporates multiple design features, including a commercial kitchen (large enough to prepare meals for all three homes' 34 residents and staff), a concrete storm shelter, great room with clerestory windows, and a large, multi-purpose meeting room. Many building materials and labor costs were donated, or sharply discounted, to help support this local ministry.
