Story

Moyle Construction was the general contractor for the construction of the new Walmart in Ironwood, Michigan.  To make room on site for this building and parking areas, over 85,000 tons of rock was blasted from a hillside.  This material was then crushed and the majority of it used a fill material for the two mechanically stabilized earth retaining walls located on the front and back sides of the site.  Combined, these two walls have an surface area of over 35,000 square feet.  The building is constructed of structural steel and load bearing masonry perimeter walls.  A white EPDM roof and skylights are incorporated into the building’s design to create a green structure.
