Molex / Woodhead

interior-design

Story

Molex is a global developer and manufacturer of Fiber Optic, and Electronic products. We were chosen to renovate two floors that contained a laboratory, office space, IT room, and a machine shop. We utilized preexisting equipment after the assessment of our client’s functional and mechanical needs.   The architectural-engineering challenges were plentiful.  Supplemental Air Conditioning was required. The integration of the outside air vent and exhaust with the existing curtain wall needed to be architecturally designed.  Some of the UL testing “ovens” cycle over 48 hour periods.  Other equipment was sensitive to air movement. All of this needed to be laid out in the most efficient way possible, and balanced against mechanical efficiencies.  An IT room design had to include enough backup requirements for a majority of the engineering workstations.  In the end, we were able to put together a plan that addressed all of these issues, met Molex’s needs and saved them money.
