Construction-Management

Story

St. Mary's College of Maryland is located in the historic St. Mary's City just upstream from where the Potomac River and Chesapeake Bay converge. As part of its capital improvements, the college wanted to replace its existing boat house- home of its award-winning sailing and crew teams.  At the same time, the college wanted to bring its biology research center closer to the water as part of this new River Center Facility.  Konover Construction was chose to serve as the Construction Manager for this beautiful waterfront project. Konover had already completed three dormitories on the campus of St. Mary's College and was familiar with the tone and culture of the school.  Important to the College of St. Mary's- and to Konover was the protection of the shoreline and the natural environment.  That is why Konover employed many environmentally sustainable design features in the $4.8 million River Center.  These included: geothermal wells, cedar roof shingles, water- efficient plumbing, and more. When completed on September 25, 2008 the River Center became home to the school's sailing and crew teams and research programs.

Konover Construction is a native Connecticut firm providing construction management at risk, construction management as advisor, design-build, and general contracting services to clients throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic.  Founded in 1959, the firm has an unparalleled reputation for its customer-focused approach to its projects, from custom academic facilities, senior living communities, corporate offices and many of the nation's largest retail brands.
