Memorial Park Restrooms

Royal Oak, Michigan

Architectural

Story

The City of Royal Oak hired JTAI to replace their aging and undersized concession stand and add new public restrooms at Memorial Park. This popular park is home to a variety of youth and adult outdoor sport activities. The solution for the project was to place the two buildings along the main pedestrian access route in such a manner so as to create an open-air food court between the structures. Masonry bearing walls supporting low-sloped metal roof panels were selected for their durability and maintenance-free characteristics. Glass block and vinyl fence rails were used to add texture and interest to the simple masonry forms. Due to budgetary considerations only the public restrooms were constructed.
