Story

This project consisted of the complete demolition of an existing tenant space and subsequent new design and build-out for the offices of a professional financial planning firm. The sensitive nature of the business required each team within the company to be located within their own self-contained work groups or "pods." The design provides for the location of the various "pods" at the four corners of the space. The central areas are utilized for the shared reception, break room, workroom, and storage functions. The arrangement of each team allows visual access and immediate contact between individual group members. Generous glass sidelights allow internally located work areas access to natural light and exterior views through the perimeter offices. The dark stains, colors, and materials, such as cherry wood and slate, are accented with stainless steel details and hardware. The materials, layout, wall massing, and detailing are an attempt to reconcile the traditional and contemporary tastes of the individual principals. The use of multi-height walls, penetrations, and colors adds a sense of openness and interest to the otherwise long and narrow internal corridor required to separate the work groups. "The team paid attention to every detail. They even anticipated our needs which didn't become apparent until after we moved in. Our space sends a message and creates a welcoming environment which we all enjoy. The team was a joy to work with and very responsive to all requests. Our project manager (lead architect) was exceptional." Michael Emerson (Partner)
