Story

University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, recognized as one of the top 10 hospitals in the nation, has developed an expansion program that includes a 330,000 sf new hospital complex in Monroeville, PA.  inFORM studio was included as part of the design team as the sustainability and LEED consultants. The UPMC East complex set a new precedent in energy savings for UPMC and became the first hospital with a LEED rating under the new and more stringent LEED NC v.2.2.  The overall project transformed sustainable thinking for the city of Monroeville with a storm water management plan that is restoring an ecologically rich natural stream that has contributed to serious flooding and water quality issues downstream.

UPMC East received the ESWP 'Project of the Year' award in the commercial category for its groundbreaking sustainable principles.
