Kitchen-Nook Remodel and Addition with Covered Deck

Oxford, NC

Story

This family had lived with their too-small-for-their-needs kitchen for long enough! Entertaining frequently, cooking every week for charity, and spending most of their time in the kitchen, these homeowners wanted space. The wish list included a huge island, a huge covered deck, casual eating space, and a plan that would open up to their living room. Our Director of Design, Leslie Cohen, along with Design Assistant Amanda Chobanian, worked to create a space that created a big "wow" when the clients saw the 3-D rendering of the new design. The "dining pavilion" with its vaulted ceiling and windows created that response. A huge island is large enough to serve buffet or seat four people and still serve food. A professional style range will handle large meals. Cabinets were designed for function with space-optimizing accessories everywhere. A large pantry and a built-in refrigerator can store plenty of food without needing additional storage elsewhere. A bar with a kegerator, wine storage, an undercounter refrigerator, and a sink is situated between the kitchen, the dining pavilion, and the grilling deck. And don't forget the ice maker to keep those beverages cold. The new open plan flows from living to cooking to dining to outdoors seamlessly. Enjoy the tour!
