Grand Rapids, Michigan
Electrical-Contractor
The City of Grand Rapids retained Feyen Zylstra to be the primary contractor for improvements to Coldbrook Street Substation. The project team coordinated multiple trades, including demolition, excavation, mechanical, and site work. The existing above-ground substation was reconstructed to a concealed underground design. The project involved the installation of fourteen pieces of pad-mounted equipment with a total value of $700,000, over 20,000 feet of primary cable, and 100 high voltage terminations. The substation feeds vital city loads including traffic signals, street lighting and water sources. Feyen Zylstra scheduled multiple planned outages with no unexpected inconvenience to the City.
