Story

This project involved the design and installation of a system to manage and monitor the manufacture of bulk-quantity food products. The existing system used manually fed, small ingredient bags. Feyen Zylstra’s System Engineering group improved the system by designing a bulk-bin feed system with accuracy of 2 pounds on a 4,000 pound batch. These improvements allowed AFT to realize a productivity increase from 4 batches every 8 hours to 32 batches every 8 hours. The improved automated process runs 24 hours a day with minimal support personnel needed on site. Process feedback information can be closely monitored and adjusted during manufacture.
