Hope College, VanZoeren/VanderWerf Buildings

Holland, Michigan

Architectural

Story

This major renovation project, totaling 62,800 SF of renovation and 17,000 SF of new construction, included connecting two existing buildings, renovating the exteriors, and providing a new entry, circulation, and spaces for the Computer Center, Education Department (offices and classrooms), Physics Department (laboratories and classrooms), Math Department (offices and classrooms), Economics/Business Departments. In addition to the conversion of these buildings into classroom space, the construction work was phased to allow for the existing library within to move into its new facility, as well as permit a logical time sequence for the incoming departments to move into their newly renovated spaces. Design Plus provided programming through construction observation, interior design, site planning, and landscape design services. The project was completed in November 1989 for a total construction cost of $4,290,000.
