Story

Design Plus provided architecture, structural engineering coordination, site planning/landscape design, interior design, and mechanical and electrical engineering coordination services for the design and implementation of this new student housing project on Grand Valley’s Allendale campus. The project includes two, three-story buildings each at 101,400 SF and 230 beds for a total of 202,800 SF and 460 beds. In addition to one, two, and four bedroom units with kitchenettes, the buildings include laundry rooms, student study areas, a common kitchenette, gathering/lounge areas, classrooms, and soundproof music/practice rooms. A 2,800 SF central utilities building was also constructed with an underground tunnel connection to the residence halls for utilities. This project was completed in September 2004. Total construction cost for the entire project is $24,400,000. The project also received the “Energy Star” rating in 2007.
