Design Plus was initially hired to help GVSU study and establish the project scope to consolidate and expand the campus’s art programs, expand the music department in the Performing Arts Center, and remodel the second floor of Lake Superior Hall to accommodate much needed additional faculty offices. Design Plus worked with a pre-selected contractor to address budget, schedule, and constructability issues. We provided architectural programming and design, site design, construction documentation, and construction observation services for three projects including a 40,000 SF addition and remodeling of the existing Art Center Complex, 23,000 SF of additions and remodeling to the existing Performing Arts Center, and 6,700 SF of remodeling in Lake Superior Hall. Our work was completed in July 1997 with total construction costs estimated at $6,000,000.
