 CSM Group served as Construction Manager for this state of the art $5.8 million Cancer Center facility.  The 45,000 sf project was constructed on a constricted downtown site on a fast track schedule that continued 18 months.  The project was also subject to intense local interest and historical district regulations.

The selection of brick, stone and ornate metal work, as well as the incorporation of double hung windows and flattened arches not only serve to fulfill the district’s design requirements, but help fulfill the project’s goal of creating a warm and welcoming building.  A very unique aspect of the building structure is the seven foot thick, cast in place concrete containment walls and ceilings surrounding the three Siemens linear accelerator rooms.

The space planning and interior design of the facility continue the theme of “patient-centered” care.  Each of the facility’s four levels is devoted to a specific aspect of care, including radiation, oncology, medical oncology, patient support services and a fourth floor for expansion.  A reception area is visible immediately as you enter each floor.  In addition to orienting the patient, the interior design of the reception and waiting areas creates a warm, hospitable environment.
