Story

The new Juvenile Home Facility for Kalamazoo County will be a secure, residential detention housing facility. The facility has 64 beds and has the capability of expanding to 80 beds in the future. It also has education and treatment services for youth.  i.e. Day treatment for adjudicated youth living at home, alternative education services for non-residents, recreation for residents, and assembly space accessible to both detained youth and the invited public.

 

Project Objectives:

 

The Mission of the Kalamazoo County Juvenile Home is to protect the community from youthful offenders by providing detention, day treatment and educational programming to help them become productive citizens. 

 

The Vision of the Kalamazoo County Juvenile Home is to be a leader in residential and community-based treatment by providing community safety, innovative programming, services to families, and financial efficiency in a state-of-the-art facility. 

 

KCJH is providing a continuum of programming for youth involved with the 9th Judicial Circuit Court from secure long term residential programming to community based services incorporating the families and community in the treatment of our youth.  An emphasis on the use of sustainable products as well as the use of a recycling program for construction materials in an effort to minimize the current and future impact on the environment is being utilized
