Beckley Road Urgent Care

Battle Creek, Michigan

Story

In December 2007, Battle Creek Health System opened its Beckley Road Urgent Care just off I-94, on the south side of the city to offer convenient, time-efficient medical care for all non life- or limb- threatening injuries and illnesses. Our goal is to provide a unique and friendly environment that is physician-based and results-oriented in an exceptional experience for the patient and their families. The waiting room is laid out with a number of seating areas for individuals who want some private time or group areas where families can gather together. There is also a glass-enclosed playroom, with a television set, to provide a space for children to play so as not to disturb other patients. Separating the lobby into two halves is an entertainment center with flat screen television and a gourmet coffee counter on one side, and a softly appointed wall on the other. The color palate in the lobby and reception areas is muted earth tones and the floor covering provides a warm ‘sense of being’ in an up-scale vacation lodge. The center, which occupies 4,000 square feet, has six individually designed examination rooms with televisions sets, X ray capabilities, and a laboratory for testing. The design of this facility makes it possible for BCHS to offer an aesthetically softer environment than is not usually found or expected in typical urgent care or physician office settings. The patient is escorted by their health care provider into a patient examination area where each room is decorated differently with bright colors and art work following a theme that relates to the local community and the state’s recreational sports and educational attractions.
